Sebastian Frontera begins his day by waking up and receiving the sun. Rising from his bed, he floats through his environment, equipped with an inherent sense of lightness. He makes his way towards the balcony doors, overlooking his home of Puerto Rico. As the crisp morning air flows into his mother's home, he closes his emerald green eyes and plants his feet on the ground. Allowing his nymph-like persona to bask in the sunlight, he stands receiving the sun’s warmth. The light particles twinkle around him as he soaks in the sun's magic, from the roots of his long curly brown hair to the soles of his feet. He accepts the nourishment of its energizing and elevating properties. From there, Frontera moves forward with his day.
“The sun is like a reflection of your inner light, so connecting with its brilliance and radiance is a way to remind yourself of your own,” Frontera says, explaining his intentions behind the ritual. This morning meeting with the sun is an essential part of Frontera’s daily routine, along with designating time for boredom to receive creative inspiration and consuming lighter foods as a way to feel more energetic within the body. Implementing these lifestyle choices externally represents Frontera’s commitment to navigating life with the curiosity and courage to expand into higher levels of consciousness. His overarching goal is to use his wisdom to make life effortless for people, “my job is to unblock logical fallacies inside of you so that you can flow more efficiently in your life.” Instead of forcing yourself to move through life under the expectations of society, Frontera believes it’s about allowing instead of forcing, “deconstructing belief systems to allow yourself to become someone new and do the things that you want to do.” Frontera’s decision to leave the school system and take a gap year was his way of practicing what he preaches.
Frontera’s relationship with the school system has always been an interesting one. His twin brother Fabian Frontera explains to me that his brother is “a very very very smart person, he was constantly studying”. His childhood best friend Claudia Figueroa Pabon shares with me that Frontera is extremely multifaceted, he’s always had problem-solving skills and has been good at math and critical thinking. Although Frontera has always been gifted with book smarts both interviewees emphasize Frontera’s variety of talent that stretches beyond what's deemed important in school. He’s also equipped with artistic and musical abilities, as well as innate spiritual and philosophical wisdom. Pabon even goes as far as to say, “Seba could apply himself to anything and with practice be good at it”.
When Pabon reminisces about her experience with Frontera in middle and high school, she explains that he was known for always singing, “in the middle of the teacher talking, he’s just singing in the back of the classroom” Pabon laughs. She also mentions how their inside jokes mimicked a made-up language between the two of them. The phrases they’d repeat always spread to the friend group. Looking back on the experience now, she realizes that Frontera’s ideas have always been at the forefront of things, “his thoughts and ideas really become so impressive that they lead the way”.
In the past, Frontera felt an obligation to attend college, moving to Iowa State despite uncertainties about his academic interests. His time in college was challenging, he began as an animal science major, then switched to computer science, and then eventually changed to philosophy. Always pairing each major with a minor in illustration. “That was almost like my escape, to express myself creatively” Frontera explains. He then went to study in Florence Italy for a semester and loved it but couldn't imagine himself returning to school in Iowa. At that time, he decides to take a gap year, intentionally using it as an opportunity to get to know himself. Instead of continuing to jump between majors, doubting his choices.
Frontera thinks that a lot of people could relate to his experience, but have decided to remain in college. “I feel like part of my purpose is, okay, I took the trip for you, here’s what I learned.” He shares the wisdom from his self-discovery on TikTok. Frontera has two TikTok accounts, “an angel account and a devil account”. His “angel account” is in English, it’s where he shares intuitive guidance and messages he receives. His “devil account” is in Spanish, Frontera explains that this is the account he shares his crazier side on, it’s for humor. Both accounts share light and healing with his audiences. One is through wisdom and the other is through transforming horror and fears into something you can laugh about.
Fabian Frontera finds his brother's ability to create humorous content that's unapologetically authentic to himself to be impressive. “It takes a lot to not care at that level and just put it out. It’s the type of stuff that most people can only do in the mirror when they're alone.” Pabon explains that Frontera has two sides to him, he’s funny and playful but also wise and knowledgeable. His Puerto Rican TikTok account is where Frontera shows his playful and crazier side. And his content focused on channeling and teaching reveals his intelligent side. She believes that his audience views him as, “almost a wizard-like character. Or fairy-like, with all of this ancient knowledge and stuff.” Despite his two TikTok approaches, Pabon feels that there's always an aura of mystery to him. Regardless of how much he reveals to his audience, his presence remains otherworldly.
Frontera believes that one must spend an extensive amount of time alone to get to know oneself. Which may add to his essence of elusiveness, especially regarding his loved ones. His gap year serves as the perfect opportunity to catch up on his solitude. However, his moments of aloneness weren't always filled with peace and creation, especially during the first few months of his break from school. He explains that during that time he was passionless and facing many emotions, attempting to navigate his newfound freedom and the uncertainty that came along with it. Frontera made the radical decision to do nothing at all. He chose to simply be, rather than strive to become someone. During his time of doing and being whatever he wanted, Frontera explains that a picture started to be created, showing him who he was. Through analyzing the patterns of what he tended to gravitate towards, he discovered exactly what he should be doing and then leaned into that.
His brother Fabian Frontera and friend Claudia Figueroa Pabon were in support of his decision to take a gap year. They both acknowledged the growth they noticed Frontera experienced this past year. Frontera thinks that his brother's time away from school helped him become a more authentic version of himself. Phrasing the experience as, “a little separate adventure that gave him a lot of introspection, a lot of ego deaths”. Pabon explains that each time Frontera changed his major it made her more worried, so when he sat her down at the beach during sunset and told her he wanted something different, she viewed his decision as a good idea. She elaborates, “Sometimes other people because they don’t want to understand his perspective, they might immediately rule them out and say he needs to go back to college but actually I think he’s very wise in the reasoning for his decisions”.
During his gap year, Frontera is creating TikTok and YouTube content while also writing a book, Words of Healing. He’s completed a few chapters and says that “the book is writing itself”. Since the project is still in its beginning stages, the concepts and how they connect are still evolving and changing. What Frontera could tell me, is that he intends to encapsulate humanity in a book, healing his readers by explaining the thoughts and situations they're going through are normal and that they are happening for ultimately the greatest good. He wants his book and all of his work to exude love, he emphasizes, “the truth is love”.
Another project Frontera has planned is to focus on the principle of organizing, to use it as a tool for healing. He explains that to do this he wants to examine the different realms that exist of knowledge and organize them. Some topic examples are art, music, politics, spirituality, and thought. Frontera elaborates, “I want to take all of these topics and organize them so people actually have a bigger picture of what’s going on. It’s not just I have this information within me and that's it and expresses it. You can go back to yourself and be like okay this is happening because of this and that.” Serving as a tool for self-discovery, showcasing the deeper meanings and interconnectedness of it all.
Along with his goal of healing others through his words, Frontera also desires to expand society's concept of what’s possible, to include magic into our realities. At its simplest level, Frontera defines magic as instant manifestation. Making something happen instantaneously. Frontera also believes that magic can be anything that’s outside of the current standard of possibility. Spiritual teacher Mariya Nurislamova was the first to awaken Frontera to the possibility of existing in a magical world. Through her powerful words, Frontera learned that he wasn’t a victim of his circumstances and that through manifestation, energy work, and mindset shifts, you can get what you want. The existence of magic was what initially ignited his spiritual awakening.
Frontera has noticed a shift in his brother’s ability to transform reality into what he desires, “he decided he wants to come and study again but he had a change in perspective. He already has the idea that everything’s going to be fine, and now he’s leveraging the university system towards what he wants, instead of just like you know doing things as a sheep if that makes sense”. Moving forward, Frontera has decided to wrap up his gap year and return to school in Puerto Rico as a Philosophy major. He’s pursuing philosophy because of his deep desire to explore all forms of thought. “I don’t want to call myself like a true philosopher or a complete one if I haven't explored all thought. I want to explore what their vessels are bringing through just like mine is bringing. To compare and contrast where I’m at and how I can expand maybe further from it” Frontera explains.
He’s grateful for his time spent away from school because it allowed him the chance to identify his identity. Rather than viewing college as a societal expectation or a pathway to make money. Frontera now knows what he’s getting out of his education, viewing college as the opportunity to learn what you want, knowing in return it will build who you are. He advises people to choose a major based on the curiosity they wish to explore and to take classes that provide answers to their questions.
Frontera explains that studying philosophy brings value to him and later he will use it to bring value to others. He’s looking forward to establishing his philosophy. However, Pabon clarified that Frontera prefers the title of mystic rather than philosopher because mystics report on real life. They gather their
knowledge from experience, building their philosophy through it rather than just thinking and theorizing. Despite Frontera’s ability to wear many hats, his superpower is infusing brilliance and heartfelt intention into everything his energy is placed into. Pabon explains, “I knew he was always going to be an influential person, his soul and personality is so unique. And it’s kinda like when you meet someone incredible and you're just like, oh so this is an important person, you kind of just know that in your gut.” As he teeters on the brink of greatness, consider this your notice – Sebastian Frontera’s name is one you’ll want to remember, as his future shines as brilliantly and intricately as the morning sun.
